brighton, brighton beach
So happy with this shot of Brighton! I had it in the can and I didn’t give it another thought until I uploaded to Flickr.
The Nikon D40X has been in for a service due to a faulty Auto Focus (AF) unit. A sensor clean in professional hands was a much appreciated side effect.
Brighton on a sunny day is a lovely place to be!

cardiff
Early train to Cardiff after a great weekend. Cricket on Friday was great fun. I’m crossing fingers and toes a world record on a great pitch is possible. Could be a touch naive. Oh well.

Day off tomorrow – a day out at Lords. Weather looks crap. Such a shame. Fingers crossed it’s a few light showers.

amalfi, rome, sicily
Well it’s coming round soon – and we can’t wait. Amazing itinerary taking us to Rome, Amalfi, Sicily.
The weather is warming up. So different to last year.

I consider myself to be quite clever. Today however a few school boy errors crept in to my game bringing me back to the other 98% of the population. I’m now on the train back to London and I’m completely drained.
Why does software have to be complicated. The answer is it keeps the other 2% in a job!

Well well.. it’s been a some time since I hit the blog with an update. Being a lazy Saturday morning and I can’t sleep in I thought I might give you an update.
Katherine and I are well, we’ve been to Ireland and Krakow over the past couple of months. Both places are fantastic. Dublin is mighty expensive given the state of Sterling, but the west coast of Galway is just magnificent.
Krakow is in another class. After going to Prague last year – which was a really pretty city, I found Krakow to be similar yet have a more down-to-earth feel. After I got back to London I put a Facebook update wishing for the ‘vibe’ to be imported. Thinking back I still wish this was the case.
Coming up this northern summer we are off Italy for a two week trip, through Roma, Napoli, Amalfi, Sicillia then back to London town. Before that though a weekend in Bath should be a nice getaway from the London life.
In other news it’s been hectic at work, which is a good thing. Keeping busy is all important. I find that I get bored if I’m not working. The problem I have is keeping focused on one thing. The all important list to write the to-do is my life line to staying on top of it all.
Katherine is well as am I (touching wood). I’m in the gym and making great use of Hyde Park up the road. Trying to stay fit in a country that loves a drink to socialise. A mate of mine from Melbourne who has moved over is looking into a couple of hockey clubs that we could join. We played hockey together in Melbourne so we are both keen to get back into it this September.
Anyway please keep in touch. I do enjoy hearing from you all.
Love to all.
Chris

ben lee, the o2
I haven’t seen Ben Lee before but Katherine is a big time O2 Pay & Go customer and gets all the deals/surprises while they hold me over a barrel. Granted I do have an iPhone and it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought in my life.
Anyway I digress…
Cool ‘free’ concert at Indigo, which is a ‘club’ venue within The O2 complex. Quite cool actually. There was the South African indie band called The Parlotones – they weren’t half bad, and then New Zzzzzland let us down, again, with two blokes looping beats and their own crap singing voices. They didn’t even announce to the crowd who they were. They were out there and then proceeded to blame it on jet-lag. Nothing to write home about. And then on skipped Ben Lee…
This guy is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected. He makes it look easy – but Katherine and the girls couldn’t believe how short/tiny he was – Claire Danes would’ve towered over him apparently! Well he still dated Claire Danes – that’s one better than the rest of us.
He was on for about an hour-and-a-half and was pulling out his considerable back catalogue of very decent songs. His self-deprecating humour makes half of the B-sides he threw in well worth a listen. I love the song ‘Ben Lee’ and his ‘tribute’ to Jay-Z is quality Australian humour. Hat’s off to him for getting mid-way through ‘Catch My Disease’ where he’s trying to ad-lib lyrics to give it that concert vibe and throw in a few Londonisms and he stops the song dead and proceeds to talk about his visit to a State school in Maroobra in reference to a kid asking him if he’d been on the London Eye.
Just sums up Ben Lee – one quirky character, who just could be a song writing genius.

snow patrol, the o2
Loved it! All my favourites came out including ‘Chocolate’ off the Final Straw album. Thanks to Katherine’s unknown work colleague who pretty much gifted the pair of tickets for a total of £30! Bargain in my book. The poor sod missed out on a cracker of a concert.

snow
Brilliant – the best snow season in a generation I’m told. We’ve just been on a week long ski holiday in a part of the French Alps called Le Grand Massif.
Awesome trip where I met up with some new-found and old friends. Great times.
I can say with a sense of accomplishment that I attempted my first ‘red’ on the trip and by the end was skiing with confidence on these difficult pistes. Next time the ‘black’! I’ve got a few bruises and I had a few massive stacks that were humorous to watch I’m told.
Great fun. I should have some photos up soon.

pub, snow
It’s snowing – again! Nice and cosy with a glass of red and a half dozen oysters with bangers and mash on the way!
