snow
Brilliant – the best snow season in a generation I’m told. We’ve just been on a week long ski holiday in a part of the French Alps called Le Grand Massif.
Awesome trip where I met up with some new-found and old friends. Great times.
I can say with a sense of accomplishment that I attempted my first ‘red’ on the trip and by the end was skiing with confidence on these difficult pistes. Next time the ‘black’! I’ve got a few bruises and I had a few massive stacks that were humorous to watch I’m told.
Great fun. I should have some photos up soon.

Well it’s been a while hasn’t it! Katherine and I enjoyed a lovely few days in Nice, Cannes, and Monte Carlo.
After arriving on time in lovely hot weather we spent the first afternoon in the Old Town of Nice. After having a coffee near the Justice building we strolled along the Promenade with a lovely sunset.
The next day we caught a TGV to Cannes which is only 20 minutes from Nice. It was one of the nicest places I have been to in my travels. Apparently the sandy beaches have been shipped in but nonetheless it was really nice to feel sand between my toes. We headed back to Nice for dinner in the Old Town again at one of the many seafood eateries that line the cobbled streets.
On the final day of our holiday we ended up taking a half-day tour of the principality of Monaco. I was blown away by the wealth. They were prepping the Monaco Grand Prix and I have some terrific photos to share with you all. We saw the changing of the guard at the royal palace. Our tour guide calls the Monaco Police ‘cowboys’ – a law unto themselves on the traffic laws anyway. I don’t think the crime rate is that high so I think that’s about all they get to do!
I do want to see a little more of of this region. I can see why so many British have holiday houses there. Wonderful.
Thank you for your calls and e-mails. I love to hear from you all. I’m heading back to Australia in August so I hope to catch up with you.

I’m having withdrawal symptoms! It’s been a week since Katherine and I were on the slopes. We met some great people along the way. For complete beginners Devoluy was a great place to learn. The apres-ski wasn’t the best but it was fun nonetheless.
Photos will be going up shortly.

Nice, France – the planned tour continues. Booked in for a weekend getaway in the south of France. With Monaco and Cannes on the doorstep it should be great fun. Can’t wait to get decent Pain au Chocolate from the boulangerie. Oh yes did I mention that we leave in early May – for what hopefully will be (touch wood) warm to hot weather.
Bring it ON!

One of our planned holidays is booked for mid-March ‘08. We are heading to the Southern Alps to a resort called ‘Super Dévoluy‘. We found it through our French house mates whose family is from that region. Katherine and I are stoked. We’ve got it booked for 7 days with another night in Grenoble which is down the mountain. Bring on some champagne powder.
