We knew our luck catching planes, trains, and buses would had to come to an end and sure enough it happened on the 22nd December. Katherine and I have a habit of leaving late. I don’t know why – it just happens. We have all good intentions. Nonetheless we were running 15 minutes late. Cut a long story short 15 minutes late cost us £54 each extra. Stupid!
After getting the next train 1 hour later we arrived in Chesterfield a further 40 minutes after the scheduled arrival time because some genius decided that they wanted to steal some copper wire from the railway signals.
Christmas lunch was beautiful – Douglas’ mum Sarah is an absolutely fantastic cook. As you know I love my food and Douglas has a real love of good wine and is so enthusiastic about it as well. His knowledge of wine is vast – and the stories that accompany the bottle being served are so interesting.
It was a special Christmas because I got to spend it with my sister, which I haven’t done for a long time. I’ve got some photos which I’ll post as well.
