We got back on the Friday after Christmas. It was a great break. After arriving back at St. Pancras International (the new home of EuroStar and East Coast main line) we got a cab back to Willesden Green. We arrived home to find the alarm going off. After turning off the alarm, we looked around downstairs to find nothing touched. Walking upstairs our hearts sank. We found our bedroom window wide open, drawers open and rummaged through – devastating!
Katherine’s laptop, sunglasses, watches, jewelery – gone! Sorting out insurance claim over the next week. It’s just Katherine’s laptop had all her photos on it which are irreplaceable.

We knew our luck catching planes, trains, and buses would had to come to an end and sure enough it happened on the 22nd December. Katherine and I have a habit of leaving late. I don’t know why – it just happens. We have all good intentions. Nonetheless we were running 15 minutes late. Cut a long story short 15 minutes late cost us £54 each extra. Stupid!
After getting the next train 1 hour later we arrived in Chesterfield a further 40 minutes after the scheduled arrival time because some genius decided that they wanted to steal some copper wire from the railway signals.
Christmas lunch was beautiful – Douglas’ mum Sarah is an absolutely fantastic cook. As you know I love my food and Douglas has a real love of good wine and is so enthusiastic about it as well. His knowledge of wine is vast – and the stories that accompany the bottle being served are so interesting.
It was a special Christmas because I got to spend it with my sister, which I haven’t done for a long time. I’ve got some photos which I’ll post as well.

My company really spent a lot of money on our Christmas party. With offices in Scotland and London they invited everyone (and their partners) to attend pre-dinner drinks and canapes followed by dinner at a top Greek restaurant in London. Absolutely a fantastic night- really well done. I was so impressed. Katherine and I ate so much good food. We ended up catching up with some friends and partied on to the wee hours.
