After a massive queue at Heathrow airport the first time we entered the UK it was nice to arrive at London Stansted from Istanbul and have only a 20 minute wait at the ‘UK Border’.

Katherine and I then flew to Edinburgh for my sister’s wedding – which was really great. I will get some photos up on the site from Katherine’s camera as I was too busy on the day to take photos. After the wedding we spent another day in Edinburgh and saw what a beautiful place it is. After that we hired a car for a trip into the Western Highlands of Scotland that were abolutely breathtaking. I nearly died of a heart attack when a low-flying RAF F/A18 decided to do a fly-past at 300 feet at Glencoe – but apart from that it was very peaceful.

We then spent some time in the Isle of Skye in a place called Portree. If you wanted isolation this would be the place.

We are now staying with my sister in Chesterfield. The best bit is that my sister and her husband have bought a pub. So at present Katherine and I are letting recruiters know that we exist combined with finding a place in London. It’s early days but I’m still confident will find a nice place to call home.

Once things settle into a routine I’ll get round to letting you know all the details.
